Ready or Not, Here I Come!!

On August 1st I will be heading to Queens, New York on a mission trip with 2 other adults and 12 high school students. We were supposed to go to Juarez, Mexico but due to some major crime in that area we decided to go to NYC instead :). We're actually leaving a day early so we can visit Ground Zero, Times Square, and the Statue of Liberty. I am very excited about the trip but worried as well. I have never been away from Michael for more than a day or two at the most! Please pray for me as well as the other missionaries.

Junior Safety Academy Day 2

Today the kids had the opportunity to learn about the Haz Mat team and what their job is.

Michael was "decontaminated" by Miranda.

Deputy Chief Petrakis taught the trainees about exit drills and gave them the opportunity to practice with the Walnut F.D. Smoke House. After lunch, the kids learned about bike safety!

It's fun to play at the Y - M - C - A

Jill and I took Michael, Daniel, Adina, Madison, and Genevieve to the YMCA in Peru. 3 other families we know were hanging out at the Y today, too. It's a wonderful facility and the kids all had a ton of fun!
Here's what is at the Y Waterpark: Family Fun Leisure Pool (0” -3’6” depth) with gradual beach entry for easy access, Lazy river, inner tube waterslide, small waterslide, and spraying and splashing attractions.

Happy 1/2 Birthday Michael

We celebrated Michael's birthday today. His real birthday is on December 31st. We decided 3 or 4 years ago that it would be much more fun to celebrate his birthday in the summer than so close to Christmas!! It's really worked out well for us for many reasons but the best for Michael is getting to have a swim party!!
